With the end of Q1, we were looking forward to a decent amount of traction with respect to our Mobile Application Management solution. When App47 got started, we considered ourselves the proverbial MAM David facing an overwhelming MDM Goliath (Not that we think it’s a zero-sum situation. There are plenty of integrated MAM/MDM approaches that can constitute a smart mobile strategy).

What we’ve seen over the past four months, however, is a rapidly emerging understanding of the need to manage not only devices, but the apps themselves. The enterprise has been aware of managing mobility around devices for some time; now, the enterprise is waking up to managing mobility around mobile apps.

The conversations we’re having, the enhancements we’ve made to our soon-to-be-released platform upgrade, the genuine need we’re seeing from organizations large and small, public and private — it’s generated major MAM momentum.

What’s around the corner in Q2? Apps are clearly coming out of their infancy. There’s increasing emphasis on good UI/UX, spirited discussion about BYOD, and plenty of prognostication about the future of apps.

For us, one thing has become obvious: MAM has moved from interesting idea to imperative strategy. We’re looking forward to the rest of the year.
