Last week, Apple sent out an email to developers and enterprise iOS users: “Changes to Enterprise App Distribution Coming In iOS 9.”

We’ve had several customers reach out to us and ask us how or if this is going to affect them, so we thought we’d take a minute to clear things up.

The update to iOS 9, which is security-focused, changes the way enterprise users manage in-house apps installed on their devices. There are a few parts to this change:

  • When using an MDM solution, iOS will no longer ask you to trust the developer if the app was deployed through the same MDM
  • When not using an MDM solution, iOS will ask you to trust the developer the first time you install an app from that developer
  • Organizations can limit the apps installed on company-owned devices to in-house apps they create
  • Enterprise users will be able to see all enterprise apps they installed from their organization in Settings

Changes to MDM users and organizations will not affect App47. (We are not an MDM.)

The only noticeable change will be that users will be able to see enterprise apps on their device through Settings. (A cool feature, in our opinion.)

Long story short? Don’t panic. These are minor changes that will have no noticeable impact on App47 users at the company or end user level. We’ve been asked about this several times and can assure you that there’s nothing to worry about.

Now: who’s ready for iOS 9?
