California County Information Services Directors Association (CCISDA) 2019 Fall Conference
Another year, another visit to California. For work, of course.
Earlier this week, part of the App47 team headed to Squaw Valley–site of the 1960 winter Olympics!–to participate in the California County Information Services Directors Association (CCISDA) 2019 fall conference. We were happy to attend and sponsor the event, like we did last year… even if Rob didn’t win any awards like he did in 2018.
CCISDA, the official organization of county IT directors and CIOs in the state of California, represents all of California’s 58 counties in the area of county government IT. Not only is it a great place to mingle with some of the state’s best and brightest IT pros, it’s also a good way to keep a pulse on what IT leaders are most concerned about at any given time.
As anyone who follows our blog knows, security has been top-of-mind for us this year; just last month, we talked at length about how MAM provides flexible data security without the hassle of MDM. One thing is definitely clear: security is on everyone’s minds these days.
Unsurprisingly, we found that to be true with the folks we talked to at this year’s CCISDA conference, as well. Attendees are placing a huge emphasis on security–not only from hacks and attacks, but also regarding information security in general.
One particular area we were intrigued about is GIS (Geographic Information Services). Fire and police departments use GIS data in all kinds of ways to map patterns and more. Many IT leaders we spoke to detailed how heavily their counties are investing in hyper-local apps. For them, there was one catch: they didn’t have a good, secure way to deliver these apps.
That’s where App47 comes in: whether for these GIS mobile apps or any other permutation of mobile application at the county level, we provide an easy platform from which to securely distribute apps. If you’d like to learn more, we’d love to talk about it, so contact us today.
A change of scenery is always nice, and we’re happy that we got to head to the West Coast for another year of CCISDA’s fall conference. We’re already looking forward to next year!
