It’s been a very exciting year for all of us here at App47.
Even when we predicted back in January that 2013 would be the year that enterprise mobility arrived, we couldn’t have predicted how well things would go this year. MAM has become a critical part of the enterprise mobility space, and we’ve been very fortunate to have the tools necessary for giving other businesses the solutions they need for successful enterprise mobility management.
In keeping with the idea that the end of any year should be used for review (and for planning next year), I thought that it would be worth putting together a list of our 10 best blogs for 2013. A top 10 is not only a useful way to catch up on what we’ve done throughout the year, it’s also a great way to help set expectations for what to expect going into 2014.
So without further ado, here’s my list of App47’s 10 best blogs from 2013 (in no particular order):
- 2013 Will Be the year Enterprise Mobility Arrives!
Though I already mentioned this post in the intro, it earns a spot on my list for the expectation it set for the rest of the year. As a matter of fact, it turned out to be a great prediction of 2013—and who doesn’t like seeing predictions come true? - Myth Busting Mobile Application Management
Sure, MAM is much bigger even today than it was when this post was originally written in February. Even so, there’s still plenty of misinformation out there about MAM. Both for its education about MAM and its insight into App47 itself, this post earns itself a solid spot in this top 10. - Celebrating Two Years as Enterprise Mobile App Management Pioneers
2013 was big for us here at App47 for a lot of reasons, but one big landmark from the year was the celebration of our 2nd anniversary in January. We’re looking forward to our third as January 2014 approaches, but it’s still nice to commemorate a big milestone in our company’s history. - The 16th Episode of Our What’s Appening Podcast: Old Dogs, New Tricks and the Mobility Skills Gap
Everyone likes a good podcast, and our “Sweet Sixteen” edition of What’s Appening features a great conversation with Greg Mummah, product manager for mobility solutions at Rocket Software. Certainly worth a listen if you’re interested in the development of mobile enterprise solutions over the years. - Mobile App Adoption is “Not There”? Please Allow Us to Push Back.
Even today, there are those who claim that mobile app adoption just isn’t there. That couldn’t be further from the truth, and in one of my favorite posts from the first half of the year, I refute the idea that mobile app adoption is “not there” and give a few reasons why we’re certain that MAM is here to stay. - Zynga Troubles Demonstrate the Risk of Putting Too Much Stock in Mobile App Downloads
Zynga suffered a pretty tough week this June when they laid off several hundred employees and shut down several offices. While certainly unfortunate, their story can teach us a lot about successfully (or unsuccessfully) managing mobile applications. - Need a Preloaded Enterprise App Store That’s Already Packed w/ Great Apps? It’s a Click Away.
Sure, it’s also a ‘best-of’ list, but even best-ofs have their place in a yearly top 10. This list from Jim Casey goes over a handful of apps that have earned the App47 seal of approval—something which will continue to be very useful for our customers and readers—and easily makes its way into my year-end top 10. - If MDM is Superman, MAM is Batman.
Never thought you’d see something like MDM or MAM compared to superheroes? Think again. Each has their own distinct advantages, but at least in this post, we take cues from Batman and focus on the ‘utility belt’ possessed by MAM. A fan favorite, and the superhero element is a nice touch, too. - Enough BYOD BS
Like the myth busting post up in number 2, this post about BYOD seals its spot in my top 10 because it clears up a common misconception: that enterprise mobility is only about devices. In reality, the devices don’t matter—the uptake of mobility usage does—and you can read through this post to get a much better idea of why that’s the case. - The App Store as Brand Builder: What should a CMO know about MAM?
Even if you’re not a CMO, this blog from later in the year covers a lot of need-to-know information about MAM. Sure, this post may be especially valuable for CMOs, but it also shows how MAM can have true substantive value for anyone—no matter who you are.
As you can see from everything we had going on here on our blog, 2013 was a very exciting year for App47.
From our prediction about 2013 as a significant year for enterprise mobility, to our two-year anniversary, to our account of Zynga’s troubles with mobile apps, a lot of interesting stuff happened here on our blog and at App47, and I’m confident that our blog next year will be continue to be home to many great stories and insights.
While the year may be drawing to a close, our blog certainly isn’t. And with that in mind, I hope that my list of our top 10 best blogs from 2013 highlights for you some of our best moments of the year from throughout 2013.
