This post is the last in a five-part series on the lifecycle of mobile application management. For previous posts in the series, see: Part I, Introduction; Part II, The Landscape; Part III, Getting On Board; Part IV, The Horizon.
We’ve reached the end of the road with our series on mobile app management.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve spent time offering a comprehensive overview of mobile app management. We’ve covered everything from how MAM compares to other mobile technologies, to how MAM will change headed into the future.
Let’s do a quick recap of what we’ve covered in our series:
- In mobile app management, the best is yet to come. Compared to other key enterprise mobility technologies like MDM and BYOD, MAM is still in relatively early days. It’s not so new that we don’t yet know how it fits into the enterprise, but it’s not so old that we’re frustrated with its limitations. We think it’s likely that MAM will grow and evolve until mobile app management and enterprise mobile app stores secure a long-lasting place across businesses of all shapes and sizes.
- Investing in MAM now is essential. Developing, implementing, and getting buy-in on mobile apps and mobile app management takes time. By investing in MAM now, you can get ahead of the curve on mobilizing key business functions, which is where true ROI is found.
- The growing complexity of mobility favors those with sophisticated mobile strategies. By 2020, Citrix estimates that the average number of devices per knowledge worker will reach almost 6 devices. More workers are going mobile, and those workers want to see key business functions mobilized. Because sophisticated mobility programs aren’t built overnight (see above), companies must start as soon as possible. Doing so will help build a foundation so they’re more prepared to implement complex strategies in the future.
And there you have it! It’s an exciting time to be in mobile app management, and we couldn’t be more excited to be in the thick of things. If what we’ve found in our own experience and in our research for this series is any indication, there’s nowhere to go but up with MAM.
